Retroid announced the Retroid Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite last week, the latest entry in the increasingly crowded dual-screen handheld space. The standard Pocket Duo is the more upmarket option, while the Lite version makes a few compromises for the price. Does neither option work for you? Then Retroid has now revealed the Pocket Duo Lite Plus.
The Retroid Pocket Duo Lite Plus is effectively a middle ground between the Pocket Duo and Pocket Duo Lite. Perhaps the most notable change is the switch from the Lite’s QCS6125 chipset to the standard model’s Q-7790 processor. In other words, you’re effectively going from a low-end Snapdragon 665 chip to a more modern Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.
Furthermore, the Lite Plus is only available in an 8GB/128GB configuration, as opposed to the Lite’s 4GB/64GB base model. The combo of this processor and 8GB of RAM bodes well for playing some PC and Switch games, along with improved 3DS performance.
Otherwise, this variant has the same digital triggers and 60Hz LCD screens as the Pocket Duo Lite. By contrast, the standard Pocket Duo offers a pair of 120Hz OLED screens and analog triggers. The Lite Plus also features a 6,000mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 6E, and Android 16.
The Retroid Pocket Duo Lite Plus has a recommended price of $219, although Retroid is offering a $20 discount code until the end of October. This takes the price down to $199. By contrast, the Duo Lite has a recommended price of $149 and the standard Pocket Duo has a recommended price of $269. But promo codes take both devices down to $135 and $249, respectively.
