Blizzard has announced a new expansion for Warcraft 3, titled “Forsaken Kingdom”, for the modern Warcraft 3: Reforged version, which was shown at the Opening Ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 and is now available on PC.
It marks the first expansion for the game in more than 23 years, the last one having been Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003. The expansion covers Sylvanas Windrunner’s initial conflict with the Scarlet Crusade, the establishment of the Undercity by the Forsaken faction, and the rise of Naxxramas.
The expansion includes more than 30 hours of new content.
Warcraft 3: Forsaken Kingdom Content and Availability
Forsaken Kingdom covers the early years of Sylvanas fighting war against the Scarlet Crusade, her role in the Forsaken establishing the Undercity before the release of World of Warcraft, and the rise of Naxxramas.
The campaign is being supplemented by a new prologue story line, more than 30 hours of new gameplay, a new definitive edition graphics mode, a new Forsaken Paladin hero unit, improved features, and better world editor options.
Warcraft 3 is now part of a wider trend seeing classic games receive new DLC expansions many years after their last update, just as The Witcher 3 did with ‘Songs of the Past’ and Age of Empires 3 with ‘The Baltic Powers’. The game had not had an expansion since Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne in 2003.
From the trailers it seems that Forsaken Kingdom keeps the classic strategy gameplay of the original game, incorporating new lore concerned with the undead faction.
The Forsaken Kingdom expansion for Warcraft 3: Reforged is now available on PC through Battle.net, although Blizzard has not specified the price in this announcement. This expansion was one of the several products that Blizzard revealed at BlizzCon 2026, together with the announcement of Diablo 5 and a new StarCraft game.
