The personal finance feature known as “Claude Money” is currently being tested by Anthropic so that users can link their bank accounts directly to Claude in order to “understand their money”, as noted in the Claude iOS app by TestingCatalog on X.
Alongside the other sections such as Chats, Code, Artifacts, Dispatch, and Cowork, a new Money section has been added, with a page stating “Link your bank accounts and ask Claude about spending, plans, and more”.
The feature does not seem to be available to the majority of users at this time, and there is limited information available. The references appeared before the announcement that was expected.
Claude Money Features, ChatGPT Comparison, and Availability
In the Claude app the Money section has a ‘Get started’ button for linking an account, and also displays a page that says ‘Understand your money with Claude. Link your bank accounts and ask Claude about spending, plans, and more.’
Since the references came ahead of the official announcement, only a limited amount of detail is available. It has not yet been made clear which banks Claude Money will support, how the accounts will be linked, or whether the feature will be restricted to the United States or to certain states.
Claude Money is similar to OpenAI’s current Finances feature in ChatGPT, which enables users to link their bank accounts, credit cards, brokerages, and other financial accounts using Plaid.
After they have been connected, ChatGPT can make use of the data to respond to questions regarding spending, bills, subscriptions, savings, net worth, and investments.
OpenAI states that it does not train its AI models using this personal data and currently provides support to over 12,000 financial institutions in the United States. Anthropic could carry out a similarly restricted launch for Claude Money and points out that the feature might not be available in Europe because of local privacy regulations.
