Samsung has now officially begun the stable rollout of the One UI 9 update for the Galaxy S26 series, nearly five months having passed since beta testing started in May.
The update for the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra started in South Korea on September 16 and is currently being made available in other regions as well. One UI 9 is built on Android 17 and features things such as My FanCam and more customizable Now Brief cards.
It also includes the September security patch. Before the stable release, Samsung issued seven beta versions.
Samsung One UI 9 Features and Beta Testing
The Galaxy AI features in One UI 9 are the same ones that were introduced on Samsung’s most recent foldable devices, and My FanCam is able to keep the person you have selected in focus while at the same time automatically adjusting the video framing for various aspect ratios, as well as Now Brief offering customizable cards together with more extensive security and privacy information.
Samsung is also introducing Now Nudge in order to provide more contextual suggestions, along with improvements to Interpreter, Document Scan, Voice Recorder summaries, and device care; Security Brief is able to detect and display warnings regarding malware, unknown applications, and unnecessary permissions, and on-device AI can identify potential privacy risks.
Android Central observes that One UI 9 no longer focuses on a single standout feature but rather integrates Samsung’s AI, camera, and security tools into everyday tasks, which might make the update seem more significant in practical use than the visual changes alone indicate.
The update underwent a long testing phase, with Samsung issuing seven beta versions before the final release so that there could be multiple opportunities for feedback and for bugs to be corrected. The September security update is part of the stable release.
